A night of solo and group dances from BUW members. Joined by belly dancers from across the midwest and UW student dance organizations, this showcase will present a variety of performances and styles. Featuring former club advisor Mona'Nwal and starring local belly dance headliner Arielle Juliette.
Featuring select current BUW members, former spring seminar instructors, dancers from across the Midwest, and special guest artists Jaida and Phaedra Darwish. We bring you a varied evening that looks back over our history and springboards us into our next 25 years!
Arielle Juliette is the owner of Dance Life Studio and Fitness in Madison WI, where he's been teaching many types of dance for 15 years. He also creates social media videos promoting the radical idea that dance should be available to all bodies.
Jaida is a New York City based dancer. She credits her love and inspiration for dance to Master Yousry Sharif, whom she has studied with for many years. She continues to grace the stage both nationally and internationally,
from the U.S., South America, Europe, to Asia she has taught countless workshops, judged competitions and remains consistently in demand as a both a dancer and teacher.
Coming from a background in instrumental and vocal music and musical theatre, Phaedra Darwish was mesmerized by belly dance and Arabic music after studying different types of dance from around the world. She feels that dance and music are beautiful ways to share the culture of her heritage and she regularly performs and teaches workshops
Coming from a background in instrumental and vocal music and musical theatre, Phaedra Darwish was mesmerized by belly dance and Arabic music after studying different types of dance from around the world. She feels that dance and music are beautiful ways to share the culture of her heritage and she regularly performs and teaches workshops and classes in Chicago and throughout the US, hoping to spread enthusiasm and respect for Middle Eastern dance as more and more people get acquainted with its health benefits and enchanted by its beauty.
There are a limited number of performance spots available in each showcase at Shimmy on Wisconsin. Soloists and groups may apply for consideration in these curated shows.
Applications are due by March 31. Show line ups will be announced on April 5.
